Our Story

In 2008, Robin and Lesa Ray established Cooper Ridge Vineyard with the goal of creating limited production premium Oregon wines. What was once walnut orchards, is now row after row of award-winning estate grown Merlot, Viognier, Syrah, Tempranillo, Riesling, Grüner Veltliner and Pinot Noir.

 

The official opening of the Cooper Ridge Vineyard Tasting Room took place in May 2015. The tasting room has quickly grown to be a favorite place for the local community to spend countless hours with friends, making memories and creating new ones. It continues to be the best-loved place for wine tasting in Southern Oregon with a beautiful panoramic view of the Umpqua Valley. After 14 years and many harvests later, the Rays decided to put away their enology tools and enjoy retirement life filled with travel and new adventures.

 

After two years of searching for the perfect winery and vineyard to call home, Steve and Paula Wilson found Cooper Ridge Vineyard in the fall of 2021.

Steve and Paula are from San Diego with two children, Emily and Ben. While visiting one summer day, they fell in love with the gorgeous landscape and friendly community of Roseburg. Steve’s interest in wines (other than drinking!!) began in the early 2000’s. While in between career changes, Steve began taking wine classes at San Diego State University and worked in the cellar at several local wineries. Paula, an educator, jumped on board to support Steve and realized his dream was also becoming hers. They are delighted to be working together on this dream and to begin calling Roseburg home.
